Now that you know the story, you're probably wondering what all this has to do with the name "Halloween" ... what does that mean? Before you continue reading and find out, take a look here to the surprise we have prepared for you ...
There are two versions of the origin of the term "Halloween": according to the first, this would be the Scottish variant of "All Hallows 'Eve": the "Night of the holy souls" or, in other words, All Saints' Eve. The other version, however, links the name "Halloween" to the character of Jack O 'Lantern (which we will talk about in a future post), the blacksmith sentenced to eternally wander the world by the light of a candle contained in a hollowed-out pumpkin - coincidentally, the English word for "dig" is "to hollow" - from here to "Hallow" and "Halloween" the step is short.
Who knows if we will ever know which of the two explanations is the right one ... if in doubt, let's not forget to spend the night of October 31st in good company, perhaps with a creepy dinner or one scary party! Why not give this supernatural night a surprising touch with an original idea, perfect for an imaginative gift or themed table?
